Racer Nina Pothof recently signed with the British Formula 4, adding single-seater racing to her resume. She previously won a gold medal in the Fia Motorsports games and raced touring and GT cars. When she’s not behind the wheel, she works as a driver coach and creates racing-related content on YouTube and social media. Today, she shares with us her favorite tips for sim racing:
Hey guys, it’s Nina here! And here are three basic tips for beginners in sim racing:
Tip number 1: Don’t give up. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in one day, and becoming a skilled sim racer takes time and practice. It’s normal to face challenges, but the key is to stay persistent. Accept the fact that it’s going to take a while before you get good, so just enjoy the learning journey.
Tip number 2:Invest in proper sim racing equipment. While you don’t need the most expensive gear, having a decent setup can significantly enhance your experience. A good wheel and pedal set, along with a racing seat, can make a world of difference.
Tip number 3: Learn from other people. Sim racing is a community, and there’s a wealth of knowledge out there. You can watch tutorials and participate in online races to learn from experienced sim racers, for example. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek advice. Learning from others can fast-track your progress and help you avoid common mistakes.
