Does everyone remember their first time? The feeling of sheer excitement, tiny bit of anxiety, heart beating hard and complete inability to… stop smiling.
I remember my first online race which was many, many years ago at this point but it has started something that isn’t likely to end even in the near future.
Just few days ago on 21st of April Ross Chastain was invited to iRacing’s Pro Invitational event at Talladega Superspeedway and perhaps it wasn’t the first time Ross has ever raced online but first time using TR160! Ross himself made a comment on his new cockpit:
"The TR160 from Trak Racer has been a perfect solution for an at home training simulator. The rigs ability to customize my wheel, pedal, and seat positions helps me recreate the same driving position I use in my real life race car. In general the frame is extremely sturdy, not having to worry about my wheel coming loose or pedals sliding around creates a much more immersive experience.”
Ross is an American professional racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the n42 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE for Chip Ganassi Racing, and also part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in which he is driving the n44 Chevrolet Silverado for Niece Motorsports.
He started racing at age of around 12 years old at his home track of Punta Gorda Speedway in Punta Gorda in state of Florida where he competed in late model and Fastruck Series events.
In 2011 he started his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, replacing Justin Marks, at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis with end result of 10th after 5 pitstops.
His 2017 Xfinity season could be considered his best yet in which he scored top 5 finish at Iowa and 2 top 10s.
This year with Ganassi team he scored 7th in Daytona 500 which is his best Cup series finishing position and in March raced at Atlanta in Truck Race, rejoining Niece.
In the recent Talladega race, Ross came in 31st position due to some contacts when whole pack was very tight so the potential for much better results was there! Hopefully soon because the next iRacing Pro Invitational Series race is set for May 5 at the virtual Darlington Raceway during which his TR160 will serve him well and this additional time to get familiar with our top of the line cockpit will bare fruit!
Good luck Ross!
